Kofinou is located in the Larnaca province. Previously it was divided into Ano and Kato Kofinou. It is located 24 km southwest of Larnaca and at an altitude of 150 m. The distance from Nicosia is about 40 km.
Kofinou is one of the largest villages in the Larnaca province. Today approximately 1300 Greek Cypriots live in this village. Before 1974, it was a purely Turkish Cypriot village, but it is now inhabited entirely by refugees. The main occupations of the inhabitants are agriculture and livestock farming, which is why the church of the village is dedicated to Agios Modestos, who is the protector of livestock farming. Kofinou has a Fire and Police Station and a hospital.
